Medicare Fraud
Medicare Fraud was apparently a routine matter for a NY area hospital, according to a senior Phlebotomist employed there. He gave details on how unnecessary blood tests were routinely performed – and subsequently billed to Medicare.
A Supervising Phlebotomist from a large area hospital has communicated with us that the hospital routinely sent him to nursing homes that are part of the hospital’s network, and had him oversee unnecessary blood tests that were billed to Medicare. He explained that secondary tests were performed without waiting for the required results of the initial testing. This is a Qui Tam waiting to happen.
